Pisgah AVL: Behind the Scenes at AVLFest 2023

AVLFest is a venue-based music and arts festival in the Blue Ridge mountains spotlighting Asheville’s diverse and eclectic scene. Over four days, 100+ performances graced the ears of audience members in 20+ area concert halls, clubs, and outdoor venues. With a multi-genre lineup of local, regional, and national talent there was something for everyone at AVLFest.

Pisgah AVL had the pleasure of providing a stage, audio and lighting equipment to New Belgium Brewing, The Outpost, Highland Brewing and Forestry Camp. Utilizing d&b audiotechnik speakers, Allen & Heath SQ Series Consoles, a DiGiCo Quantum 338 console, Elation lights with Avolites Quartz console, Pisgah AVL was the top-down provider of full production support ranging from staging, labor, audio, lighting, banners to power needs.

It’s amazing how an outdoor venue comes together! What starts as an open space, a trailer and a box truck blossoms into a full blown concert in the span of a few hours. Our mobile stage expands by hydraulic lift with trusses already attached. As it unfolds, our technicians attach and cable the lighting fixtures. Once completely upstanding, we set the stage with our audio backline. As soon as everything is run to our front of house consoles, just add talent and an audience. VOILA. Music to everyone’s ears.

AVLFest doesn’t just rock out. They are committed to the community and partnered with with several local nonprofits including RiverLink, Black Wall Street, Homeward Bound, and Campaign for Southern Equality to help raise awareness and funds. With a portion of proceeds from ticket sales going directly to these nonprofits we were so proud to work with this great festival!

As the largest shindig of its kind since Bele Chere (RIP), AVLFest 2023 brought the community together to enjoy music and fun during the last days of summer. Featuring artists such as Kurt Vile and the Violators and Watchhouse, alongside Scott McMicken of Dr Dog, Nikki Lane, Sarah Shook & The Disarmers, Chatham County Line, Dylan Leblanc, Caitlin Krisko & The Broadcast, Dustbowl Revival, Chatham Rabbits, Dangermuffin, Jonathan Scales Fourchestra and many more between August 3 – 6. The festival was presented by Wicked Weed Brewing and Worthwhile Sounds as the headlining sponsors bringing this experience to life.
